A Special Treat for Your Furry Friend | How To Make Dog Biscuits with Breville

This one’s a dog blog! It's National Dog Biscuit Day, but do we really need a special day to make awesome treats for our furry friends? This recipe is super simple and all of the ingredients are great for dogs making them a healthier treat option than a lot of store-bought treats. We made these treats super easily using the Breville Sous Chef 16 Food Processor with just 3 ingredients!

To make your own treats for your dogs all you’ll need is:

  1. Start by pre-heating your oven to 300F.
  2. In a food processor, add the instant oats and blend them into a fine oat flour.
  3. Remove 1/4 cup of the oat flour and save on the side for dusting the countertop when you roll out the dough.
  4. Add the two bananas and 1/2 cup of peanut butter to the oat flour in the food processor and pulse to blend all the ingredients into a dough.
  5. Use some of the saved oat flour to flour your countertop and dump the dough out.
  6. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough into a 1/2” thick sheet.
  7. With either a knife or your favourite cookie cutter, cut biscuits out of the dough sheet and use a bench scraper to carefully move the biscuits onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. You can gather your offcuts and reroll them to get more dog biscuits since there’s no wheat flour there’s no real risk of overworking your dough from rolling it out too many times.
  9. Once all the biscuits are cut out and on baking sheets, bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes, or until the edges start to get crispy and golden brown.
  10. Remove the biscuits from the oven and allow to cool before giving to your dog!

This recipe is super simple and dogs love them! We left ours plain, however, these are also great to decorate with dog-friendly icing.
