Fast Food Favs - Not-A-Mac Smash Tacos Recipe

When you think of a fast food burger, what comes to mind? Perhaps you imagine three stacked buns, with two juicy patties topped with lettuce, onion, pickle, and of course, that delicious secret sauce. It's an iconic burger that’s typically associated with a trip to the Golden Arches, but what if we told you that you can recreate this magic at home? We decided to put a TA twist onto this classic layered burger and transformed it into a mouthwatering smash burger!

To make the Not-A-Mac Smash Tacos you’ll need:

  1. To make the sauce, begin by finely mincing the white onion and 1 dill pickle.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the mayo, mustard, ketchup, half of the minced onion, minced pickle, and spices. If the sauce is too thick, you can make it thinner by adding a small amount of pickle juice.
  3. Next, in a large bowl add your ground beef and mix with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Mix the beef for 1-2 minutes or until it starts to get sticky, working the beef will help it hold together when you smash it down on the griddle.
  5. Split the beef into 6 equal parts and roll into balls.
  6. Heat your griddle, or grill with griddle attachment, to high heat.
  7. Add a small amount of oil to the griddle, then place a ball of ground beef down and put a tortilla on top before squishing it down with a large griddle spatula.
  8. Allow the burger to cook for 2 minutes, or until the edges go dark brown and start to lift off the griddle.
  9. Flip the burger and tortilla over, top with a slice of cheese, and continue cooking the burger for another 15 seconds.
  10. Remove the burger from the griddle, and top with minced white onion, sliced dill pickles, and some shredded iceberg lettuce. Drizzle with the sauce and enjoy!
